neon 82608dbafd feat(books): show read-along chapters and hide audiobook request
An EPUB with Media Overlays already carries its narration, yet the Chapters tab required audio files and the Editions panel offered to request an audiobook the book already had.

List the narration sections of such an EPUB as a read-only chapter list, and count the narration as the audio half when deciding which format is missing. The chapters state gains an optional readAlong flag, so released clients keep working. Editing stays tied to audio files, because an EPUB has no chapter metadata to write.

neon b8ba579336 refactor: remove podcast support
Podcasts shipped switched off in every release and are now removed from the server,
web client and shared types. Migration 0132 drops the podcast tables and the media-type,
library-type and folder-role columns. Released iOS and Android builds read the removed
response fields as optional, so the API change stays compatible.

neon 199ba687c3 feat(achievements): answer in the language the client asks for
Achievement names, descriptions and category labels, the secret placeholder and the monthly
challenge are text the server writes and every client shows as is, so they stayed English in a
translated web page and will in the localized iOS app. The routes that return them now read
Accept-Language and answer in that language, with Vary: Accept-Language.

The translations live in the web's catalogs under serverText, so Crowdin, its checks and its
translators handle them through the existing pipeline; the server reads that subtree, and the image
copies the catalogs beside dist. English is never looked up: a request without the header, and
every client that predates it, gets the bytes it got before. A test keeps serverText in en.json
equal to the seed and the constants it mirrors. The web now sends its chosen language on every API
request, and the Accept-Language matcher moved into @bookorbit/types so the client and the server
negotiate the same way.

The iOS app is a consumer the web client does not show: it will send its own interface language.
App Store builds that predate that still send the device language, so on a non-English device they
will start getting translated achievement names inside English screens. That was accepted; the
response shape does not change.

neon 946855cd30 feat(library): read series from folders for comics and manga
Offer the one-folder-per-series layout Komga and Kavita use as a File as Book path-rule preset
rather than a new organization mode, so released iOS builds and both existing modes are unaffected.
Add a job that applies saved rules to books already in a library, and keep a run year such as
"Batman (2016)" when ComicInfo or a provider names the series without it.

Pick folders from a lazily loaded tree with find-by-name and typed paths, beside a plan showing
the books each organization mode would import, overlaps with other libraries, and folders no

Fix the scanner filing a disc-named library folder such as /mnt/disk1 under the folder above it,
and move books already filed there onto their primary file on the next scan.

neon d29b06c6e8 fix(auth): restore metadata editing lost to the 3.5.0 library roles
Promote Viewer grants to Editor on book libraries for non-superusers who hold Edit metadata but

Editor or Owner role are left alone. The Users drawer now says where Edit metadata takes effect,
read from a new GET /users/:id/library-access route.

neon c378354dac feat(settings): rebuild reader fonts on the shared font ledger
Reader › Fonts now uses the Server Fonts ledger, family sheet and upload tray for a reader's own
fonts, and lists the server's fonts with a show/hide switch and a preview sheet. The shared pieces
move to features/settings/fonts and the ledger columns narrow to give the specimen room.

neon c544a28e77 feat(client): replace the global header with a sidebar dock and command palette
Remove AppHeader. The sidebar gains a Search row that opens a Cmd+K palette (books, authors,

neon 97cd03325f feat(reader): open DjVu documents in the web reader
Scanned books are commonly distributed as DjVu, which the scanner only stored as a supplement.
Decode pages on the server with DjVuLibre so DjVu imports with a cover and page count, opens in
the image reader with its embedded OCR text, and can be the preferred format of an ordinary email
recipient. Migration 0113 widens the recipient format check to allow it.

Decoding runs on validated private snapshots behind a bounded, reader-first queue, and
revalidation and cached pages are answered without a decoder. Released iOS builds cannot open
DjVu, so series continuation offers it only to callers sending includeDjvu=true, and the
dashboard and notebook read file never name it. The first full scan after upgrading promotes
stored .djvu supplements to content.

neon 59e3f36f5e fix(auth): enforce library roles for metadata editing
Library access roles had no effect on metadata editing: only the global Edit metadata permission
was checked, so a Viewer could edit every library they could see and an Editor could not be
limited to one library. Require Editor or Owner on the book's library for every metadata write,
including bulk edits, locks, covers, file renames, entity manager changes and author edits, and
hide the matching actions in the web client.

Keep existing access levels when an admin saves a user's library list. The old replace reset every
row to Viewer, which would now silently revoke editing on each user save.

Existing grants are Viewer, so after upgrading, admins must set Editor on each library where a
non-superuser should keep editing metadata. The released iOS app already gates editing on Editor.

neon 7bb51a7a0b feat(metadata): cache metadata provider answers
Repeated searches and refreshes asked every provider again, which is slow and runs into provider
rate limits. Keep each provider's answer in Postgres, shared by all users, and reuse it until an
admin-set lifetime runs out. Search screens mark saved results and offer a fresh search, and
explicit refreshes stay live, falling back to a saved answer only when a provider fails.

Empty answers are only kept for API providers that report failures reliably, and a cache-only
request never calls a provider in cooldown. Book Dock's manual refetch stays live-only because
the dock has nowhere to report a fallback. Released iOS builds keep working: every new request
field is optional and newer clients gate it on the metadata-search-cache server feature.
